Standing orders for business customers

Shopify subscriptions do not work for business buyers. With a standing order Loyalo places a B2B order itself on the agreed day, for the company location, with that company's price list and payment terms.

Updated: 3 October 2026

What you need

  • The Scale B2B plan
  • Companies in Shopify B2B, with locations, catalogs and payment terms. Loyalo uses what you have set up there

Switching standing orders on

  1. Switch the feature onGo to Subscriptions > B2B settings and switch on standing orders for business customers.
  2. Choose the frequenciesTick which frequencies a customer may choose: every week, every 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8 weeks, or every 1, 2 or 3 months.
  3. Decide what the customer may doWith 'Customers make changes themselves in their account' the customer may change quantities, products and the frequency, and stop. When it is off, they can only skip, reschedule and pause.
  4. Set the reminder, terms and timeThe number of days beforehand on which the customer gets a reminder (0 = no e-mail), the payment terms for locations that have none of their own (0 = due immediately) and the hour at which Loyalo places the orders.
  5. Switch it on in your theme and customer accountIn the theme editor, under App embeds for Loyalo, switch on repeating an order, and add the standing orders page to the menu of the customer account.

Managing a standing order

The list under Subscriptions > Standing orders (B2B) shows per company and location the products, the frequency, the next date and the last order. You search by company, location or number and filter on active, paused and stopped.

PartWhat you do there
ProductsChange quantities and add a product from that company's price list
ScheduleChange the frequency and move the next order to another date
Placed ordersThe result per date: placed with an order number, or skipped
HistoryWhat was changed and by whom
When an order cannot be placed

At the top of the list a message shows how many standing orders could not be placed. Open the standing order for the error message of the last attempt.

Prices and payment

The price per item and the minimum quantities come from the company's catalog in Shopify. If you change a price there, it applies to the next order. The order is placed on account, with the payment terms of the location; Shopify sends the invoice. No direct debit and no mandate are needed.

What the customer arranges

ActionAlwaysOnly when changes by the customer are on
Skip once, reschedule or pauseYes
Change quantities and productsYes
Choose another frequencyYes
StopYes

The customer does this in the customer account, under Standing orders. A few days before every order they get a reminder, so they can still change something.

Points and tiers for business customers

With the Customer Loyalty add-on business customers earn points too. You give them a rate and tiers of their own, for example on volume. See the article Tiers and customer groups.

Why not an ordinary subscription for business customers?

Shopify does not allow subscriptions for business buyers. A standing order does the same in a different way: Loyalo places an ordinary B2B order on the agreed day.

When is the order placed?

On the day of the standing order, at the hour you choose in the settings.

Which payment terms apply?

The terms of the location in Shopify. If a location has no terms, the default terms from the settings apply.

Can I serve B2B and consumers in the same shop?

Yes. Consumers take a subscription, business customers a standing order on account. Both are in the same dashboard.
